Exam pattern
Paper 1
09:00 to 12:00 IST. Compulsory. Computer based. PwD candidates with at least 40% impairment are eligible for one hour of compensatory time, ending at 13:00 IST.
Paper 2
14:30 to 17:30 IST on the same day. Compulsory — a candidate must appear in both papers. Compensatory time extends the end to 18:30 IST where applicable.
Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)
Taken only by candidates seeking admission to the B.Arch programme, after qualifying in JEE (Advanced). It has its own separate syllabus.
Marking scheme
NOT published in advance. The brochure states that negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers to some questions and that the details will be provided in the Instructions to Candidates section at the time of the examination. Any specific per-question figures quoted elsewhere are not from the official brochure.
Topic-wise syllabus
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Both papers draw on all three subjects. Questions are designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability rather than recall. The detailed subject syllabus is published separately at jeeadv.ac.in/documents/jee-advanced-2026-syllabus.pdf.
Language
Question papers are set in both English and Hindi, and a candidate may choose and switch between them during the examination.
